TLC2 Week is an annual event, organized in collaboration with the RILEM Association, aim at disseminating recent findings and identifying new challenges in the areas of TLC2 and resolve them through collaborations with relevant national and international stakeholders. During this week, we conduct Young Researchers’ Symposium (YRS) and international workshops on TLC2 topics. In the past four editions of TLC2 Week, distinguished speakers from academia and industry presented cutting-edge research work on a variety of topics pertaining to construction materials and management.
TLC2 Week is an annual event, organized in collaboration with ICI, RILEM, and our members and sponsors aiming at disseminating recent findings and identifying new challenges in the areas of TLC2. During this week, we conduct the following programs:
Walter P. Murphy Professor of Civil Engineering (Emeritus), Center for Advanced Cement-Based Materials, Northwestern University, USA & Distinguished Professor, IIT Madras, India
Prof. Shah has been actively involved in concrete technology research for several decades. His research addresses a variety of topics in concrete materials science and engineering, including high-strength concrete, shrinkage measurement, nondestructive test methods to monitor properties ranging from setting time to the modulus of elasticity, and rheology of fresh concrete, self-consolidating concrete, and nanotechnology applications. He has made pioneering and groundbreaking contributions to understanding fiber-reinforced concrete, damage, and fracture and developing innovative experimental techniques. He served as a Professor of Civil Engineering, at Northwestern University and founded NSF-funded Center for Advanced Cement Based Materials (ACBM) including the academic partner universities of Illinois, Michigan, Purdue, and NIST. Currently, he is the Director of the Center of Advanced Construction Materials, Civil engineering department at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Young Researchers’ Symposium (YRS) is an international forum for senior PhD students and recent doctoral graduates to showcase their cutting-edge research outcomes in the areas of Technologies for Low-Carbon and Lean Construction (TLC2)
The best speaker will receive the Prof. Surendra P. Shah Award 2026 on Technologies for Low-Carbon and Lean Construction 2026 and will be given an opportunity to present his/her PhD work at The 5ᵗʰ International Workshop on Technologies for Low-Carbon and Lean Constructions 2026” to be held at IIT Madras, Chennai, during 28th-30ᵗʰ January 2026.
Travel grants of up to EUR 2000 (two thousand) could be available to selected speakers, preferably to speakers outside India (partial support towards the actual travel expenses).
